Age Pride : InterGen LGBTQ2IA Connect
Everyone’s welcome to this workshop exploring how we’re all age travelers, somewhere on the spectrum between younger and older. LGBTQ2IA communities are especially susceptible to generational silos which intensify internalized and systemic ageism. Thanks to our unique life courses we also happen to be very well-equipped to dismantle ageism, which in turn helps us unpack and undo other prejudices.
BRING BACK THE LIGHT Virtual Holiday Party December 18th, 2020
We celebrated the holiday season together on Zoom. Attendees were able to choose between multiple virtual rooms to visit throughout the party. We had a dance hall playing hits of the 70s and 80s, a games room with rounds of Price Is Right-type games with hilariously strange taxidermy creations and the main chat room. Members were able to connect with us on their various devices, and even by phone! We are eager to try this again for Valentine’s Day.
InterGen L.G.B.T.Q.+ Connect December 3rd, 2020
Our first virtual InterGenerational conference was a huge success! Bill Ryan spoke to us about the history of L.G.B.T.Q.2.I.A.+ liberation, from when we acquired the rights and freedoms we enjoy today to what still needs to be done to improve the lives of the most marginalized members of our community. Then, Ryan Backer got us interacting a little more and rethinking how we approach age variances. The second half of this event got us into small discussion groups to start building a stronger community for all of us.
We had such a great time that we forgot to take a picture while we were all together! Instead, we got a picture of our much smaller after party. Thank you to all of the wonderful people who helped make this event as amazing as it was. We will certainly do more events like this in the future!
